Confirmation into our Afterschool Programs

Immediately following your online registration, you should receive an email confirming your payment for the class. Like all subsequent emails, we will send it to the address you enter into the payment system. Since the Yahoo bulk mail folder generally intercepts our emails, please provide a non-Yahoo email address.

IMPORTANT: Though this initial confirmation email confirms your payment, for afterschool programs, your child's enrollment in the program will only be confirmed after the first day of class.

(This is true for our afterschool programs only - we have never had to turn anyone away from our summer program)

This is because we place each child in a group depending on what they know and what they need to learn next. We determine the children's placements by having them complete placement worksheets during the orientation session when they first join the program. In addition, our instructors verify the children's placement during the first day of the class and may move them to a different group if needed.

Thus, even though you are required to register in advance for the program, your child's exact placement, and therefore the space for them in a group, can only be confirmed after the first day of the class.

Depending on instructor availability, it is possible that we may not have enough instructors for all the children who desire to enroll in the program.

In our three years of operation, we experienced a shortage of instructors for the first time this past fall.

We always do our best to have as many children take the program as possible. Since our instructors are all Stanford students, though, their availability depends on their Stanford class schedules, which are only finalized the week our program starts. This is why there may not be space in the program for some children, even if they have already registered online.

Please be advised of this possibility, and consider potential backup plans for your child in case we are not able to keep them in the program after the first day of class.

In cases where we have more groups of children than instructors to teach them, we will allocate instructors to the larger groups first in order to enable as many children as possible to take the program. Within those groups, we will then give priority to children who are continuing, who have enrolled for the entire year, or who registered early.

If we are not able to keep a child in the program, we will invite the parents to transfer the enrollment either to a different school where there is still space, or to a future afterschool or summer session. Alternatively, we will offer those parents a full refund.
